Who am I?
Thanks for checking out my site. My name is Andrew Harrison. I was born and raised in Rochester, NY, went to college at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and graduate school at the University of South Carolina. Prior to traveling the country interviewing people, I was in business to business sales, living in Memphis, TN, Phoenix, AZ and most recently Charlotte, NC. In April of 2004, I was 28 years old and left the good life of Charlotte to try and find a job and lifestyle I could take purpose from and pour passion into.
After more than three years, my travels have taken me over 60,000 miles and 130 one-on-one interviews. The journey has been the most incredible thing I've ever been a part of.
$$$
A lot of people ask me how I can afford all of the travel and interviews. Well, leaving my job to hit the road was not a deicison I made overnight. Prior to leaving I saved up a pretty good chunk. And when it was time to go on the road, I cashed in my savings. An accountant wouldn't look at that as great ROI, but you can't put a price on the people I've met, the passion I've felt and the knowledge I've accrued.
Now what?
The advice from my interview subjects has changed my life. I went from a lost soul to a very inspired individual. My new goal is to share my travels and interview experiences with other people who might be asking the same questions I did. I have written a book about my interviews that will be available soon. I am also asked to give talks at colleges, high schools, businesses, churches and communities about how to tap into the power of passion.
Book #1
My first book passes on the stories and advice of my interviewees in a lesson based format so others can have the same passion for their work and life that I found, 84,000 Hours: On the road lessons from people working with purpose and passion
