Kenny Chesney and the Bills

11/6/2008
Rochester and Buffalo, NY

The election delayed me in posting about Halloween and the Bills game. Both were awesome. Halloween is the best when you dress up and if you love to people watch. I did both on Friday night. As I mentioned earlier, I am continuously told I look like Kenny Chesney. Therefore, I dressed up as Kenny Chesney.

I was lucky that I remembered a friend of mine had a cowboy hat. I called him and even better, his new fiancé was a big Kenny fan. She gave me three cowboy hats to choose from and some pointers on shirts to pick out. After a stop at the mall for a puka shell necklace I was ready to go: Cowboy hat, necklace, tight back shirt and tight jeans. Someone sent me a pic comparison, so you can see for yourself (the link is at the end of this post. The comparison is the 3rd picture down).

I guess I look like him. All Halloween, if someone knew who Kenny Chesney was, they knew my costume. “Oh my god, you are Kenny.” From the reaction of a lot of girls, that is a good thing. So I went with it. It was a great night socializing all over the place. For some reason being in costume allows you to let your guard down. I was much more talkative than usual and my guess is so were the people I was talking with. I stayed out until the lights came on.

Saturday was a recovery day. I also had to get up at 6 AM for the Bills game. My dad, cousin Kyle and high school friend Matt and I met at 7:30 AM. We were armed with a grill, meat, coolers, a football, Frisbee and sweet ticket for the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets. The drive was about 90 minutes but I made it longer because I forgot the hamburger patties in the refrigerator (I am not a morning person). A grocery store pit stop put us a little behind but we arrived in Lot A parking near 10 AM. I love to tailgate and we lucked out with a decent day. The high as going to be 50 and the sun was out, but the wind was cold.

We hung out, threw the football around and had a few pops. My aunt and uncle rolled in on a bus with tickets for a corporate suite. My friends Chuck and Mary Ann met us for a burger. And then it was game time.

We were at the 40 yard line, 12 rows up. Not a suite, but sweet! The crowd was hyped for most of the first half, but two drives that went inside the Jets 10 yard line ended up with minus 7 points. One drive ended with a missed fourth and 1. Another drive ended with a Jets interception return for a TD. We watched the Bills stink it up and lose, which was a bummer. The Bills didn’t deserve to win and Brett Favre didn’t play like a hall of famer, but it was still an awesome experience. We all had a great time.
